Favorite Albums from 2017
Another amazing year for music. I sometimes forget what I’ve listened too in a year cause I jump around so much and constantly have something new. Technology has had a huge impact on my musical palette. It’s incredible. Here is my list from last year and 2015.
Anyways, here are my favorites from the last year.
A Deeper Understanding- The War on Drugs
A hypnotic Dylan like vibe. It’s one that I loved more every time I listen to it.
Prisoner- Ryan Adams
I love RA so my expectations are high. This album delivered.
Villains- Queens of the Stone Age
There is something different about these guys that I just love. I never typically love their albums right away but more of a slow burn. Same with this one, great up beat album.
Twin Solitude- Leif Vollebekk
Loved loved this album. It’s so chill.
Harmony of Difference- Kamasi Washington
I’ve been getting into more jazz lately and I love this album. I need a different type of music when listening at work and this is perfect.
Undivided Heart & Soul- JD McPherson
Such a sick album. I rocked this for a few weeks straight. Good vibes for sure.
Turn Out the Lights- Julien Baker
This is def most depressing album on this list. I don’t know why but this album does something for me. Really personal lyrics.
Introduce Yerself- Gord Downie
So many cool songs on this album. It’s classic Downie. Not in the classic Hip type way, but his solo stuff. This is very similar to the Secret Path album which I loved. The lyrics are so sad but it’s cool to imagine the people the songs are for hearing it.
Face Your Fear- Curtis Harding
I was so pumped when I heard he had another album coming out. He’s only put out one and I loved it. Funk, rock, soul vibes. This was is great too.
From a Room: Volume 1 & 2- Chris Stapleton
I’m including these as one but they are both really good. Classic Stapleton where his voice alone makes every song sound so good.
The Nashville Sound- Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit
Arguably my favorite artist puts out another masterpiece. This one seems to be getting even more praise than his last. Amazing song writer. His songs definitely have something behind them.
