Captivating book to say the least. I’ve never read anything like it.

I wanted to venture into something abnormal for me. Not really a big memoir guy but I had heard this one was quite good. Understatement.

Westover’s story is deep and complex. Just when you think it’s over and you have seen the worse, another layer is added. It’s hard to wrap your head around the fact that this isn’t 50 years ago, it’s a decade ago. For her to progress academically in spite of her upbringing is truly incredible.

If you’re looking for a story, you are going to want to read this one. Her writing is poetic and different but it’s hard to explain how. One of my favourite reads of the year.
